About 80% of Kitaibaraki’s area is made up of mountains and wilderness. Mt. Hanazono and Mt. Eizomuro undergo a variety of changes depending on the season, especially in the fall when the leaves change color and you can enjoy hiking up the mountains surrounded by beautiful maples and mountain maples. There are hiking trails at Mt. Hanazono and Mt. Eizomuro, which take about three hours to walk. The relatively gentle slope makes it easy for beginners.

Important Information

The Sarugajo Forest Road is closed from December to March due to icy road conditions.
Note that reception is poor in this area and internet access is difficult.

Visit Masubuchi Gyoen for dishes featuring river fish and wild vegetables.
You can fish in the aquaculture ponds and enjoy eating the fish you catch.
