Izura Coast
The Izura Coast is a series of five coves of different sizes eroded by the rough waves of the Pacific Ocean, with cliffs as high as 50 meters. It is known for being adored by Tenshin Okakura, who devoted himself to the advancement of modern Japanese art, including sharing Japanese art with the world and protecting its culture. The scenery consisting of the magnificent Pacific Ocean stretching out before your eyes and the red structure Rokkakudo reflected in the green pine trees is like something out of a Japanese painting, making this the most popular tourist spot in the Kitaibaraki.
The Izura Coast has been selected as one of the 100 best beaches in Japan, and in March 2014, Okakura Tenshin Former Residence and Gardens with Oizura-Koizura was selected as a registered national monument (scenic spots and ruins).
